Every year of the festival, Artemis films have garnered distribution. Those include Artemis Best Features “Awaken,” “Never Let Go,” “Quarries,” and Best Documentary “SMART,” as well as other Artemis Official Selections.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (PRWEB) August 27, 2018

Now in its fifth year, The Artemis Women In Action Film Festival (AWIAFF) is open for submissions for 2019. Known for putting a spotlight on strong female characters and storylines in all genres, including action, drama, comedy, documentaries, features and shorts, Artemis has stayed true to its mission to bring you the premier film festival, dedicated to honoring female action and empowerment heroes. Artemis holds a perfect record of screening a variety of well-made movies carefully chosen to entertain, enlighten and delight. And in the fifth edition, Artemis is expanding its festival to include female powered music.

Women composers have been underserved throughout history. The film festival wants to change that and will be adding a category to accommodate women composers of original scores. This is something that has been on the festival director’s mind for two years to not only include a score category for women, but to expand the festival to include female musicians, but the timing has never been quite right until now.

The Fourth Annual Artemis Women In Action Film Festival Continues the Tradition of Celebrating Strong Women Onscreen

mAY 04, 2018

Michelle Rodriguez, Ming-Na Wen, Richard Portnow, Rosemary Rodriguez, Zoë Bell, Dot Marie Jones, and others graced the “black” carpet at the Fourth Annual Women In Action Film Festival Awards Gala, presented by Paul Feig and hosted by Grace Parra. It was a celebrity-filled event, supporting strong women characters on screen with performances by jazz recording artist Kaylene Peoples and radio personality Sheena Metal, followed by awards given throughout the evening and special screenings.

Thursday April 26, 2018, at the Ahrya Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills, the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival, Presented by Paul Feig put on an awards Gala like no other. Strong women characters was the theme and the impressive lineup of action heroines and stuntwomen that showed up on the black carpet to receive their due at the awards presentation. Arrivals included Michelle Rodriguez, Ming-Na Wen, Rosemary Rodriguez, TJ Scott, Dana DeLorenzo, Dot Marie Jones, Debbie Evans, Alicia Vela-Bailey, Victoria Smurfit, Richard Portnow, Kristanna Loken, Yancy Butler, and many others too numerous to mention.

A big highlight during arrivals was Dot Marie Jones—a cast member of the 2018 AWIAFF award-winning film Combat Nuns: All or Nothing (notable actress best known for Glee)—surprised everyone when she drove on the sidewalk and parked her Harley right on the black carpet. The stunned crowd was delighted as Jones, dressed in a nun’s habit, took a drag off her cigar. Artemis Women In Action Film Festival Director Melanie Wise and the evening’s host Grace Parra hopped onboard the bike with Dot as the cameras snapped in a frenzy of excitement.

Previous Artemis honorees introduced and presented awards to the following: Michelle Rodriguez (“Fast and Furious” franchise, “Avatar”), Ming-Na Wen (“Agents of S.h.i.e.l.d.,” “Mulan”), Rosemary Rodriguez (“Cagney & Lacy” 2018, “Jessica Jones”), TJ Scott (“Star Trek: Discovery, Taken”); Dana DeLorenzo (“Ash vs. Evil Dead,” “Barely Famous”), Debbie Evans (“The Fate of the Furious 7,” “Matrix”), Alicia Vela-Bailey (“Wonder Woman,” “Hostel 3”); Danielle Burgio (“Matrix Reloaded II & III,” “The Green Hornet”), Heidi Pascoe (“A Wrinkle in Time,” “Fantastic Four”), Kachina Dechert (“Mission Impossible,” “The Mummy”), and Cassandra Ebner (“Game of Thrones,” “Arrow,” “Demon X”).

Michelle Rodriguez, Ming-Na Wen, Rosemary Rodriguez and Others to Be Honored at the Artemis Women In Action Film Festival

APRIL 18, 2018

Michelle Rodriguez, Ming-Na Wen, Rosemary Rodriguez, Dana DeLorenzo, and Kachina Dechert will be recognized for their excellence in action films; Paul Feig presents the Fourth Edition Artemis Women In Action Film Festival; and announcing Habibi Bath & Body and Citi as official sponsors.

Artemis Women In Action Film Festival (AWIAFF) is proud to honor Michelle Rodriguez with the Artemis Action Revolutionary Award for not only refusing roles where the characters are the ‘average’ female role, the characters she does play are inspirational and indelible. She is a co-star in three of the most popular action franchises: ‘The Fast and the Furious,’ ‘Avatar,’ and ‘Resident: Evil.’ She has arguably been described as the most iconic actress in the action genre in Hollywood.” Her first starring role was starring as a boxer in “Girlfight” from which she gained critical acclaim. Michelle Rodriguez then went on to “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. She has become synonymous with action films and has starred in some of the most successful movies of the last 17 years.

Ming-Na Wen will be recognized with the Artemis Action Paladin Award for consistently portraying characters that use their skills to protect and help others. Ming Na Wen plays two of the toughest heroines in film and TV. She created the indelible voice portrait of the warrior princess “Mulan,” and she is currently the enforcer of enforcers in Marvel’s “Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Both characters embody warrior women. Early in her career, Ms. Wen’s work has thrilled and captured audiences around the world for two decades with a vast array of performances ranging from drama, to comedy, to action.

“I love portraying strong female characters like Agent May, Mulan and Chun-Li. They are not only fun to play as an actor, but they inspire and entertain both men and women. More importantly, these roles help women and girls to find their own inner strength. I also am honored to represent minorities and prove that anyone can be a badass at any age!”—Ming Na Wen

CAA Teams Up as a Lead Sponsor for the Fourth Annual Artemis Women In Action Film Festival

March 13, 2018

Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has teamed up with Artemis Women In Action Film Festival 2018 as a lead sponsor. Other notable sponsors include LA Weekly, and AGENDA Magazine. In its fourth year, on April 26-29, held in Beverly Hills, CA, the prominent film festival will screen approximately 70 films, as well as honor stuntwomen who’ve made a significant impact in film and television.

The Artemis Women In Action Film Festival (AWIFF) is delighted to announce its recent partnership with The Creative Artists Agency (CAA) as a lead sponsor for the fourth edition; AWIFF is a film festival that was founded for the purpose of raising awareness of strong female characters in movies and television. Known for their A-list talent, CAA serves as the catalyst to further the movement to feature powerful women on screen and to build an even stronger presence for enthusiastic moviegoers. Sadly, “strong women” are still being grossly underrepresented.

“In today’s world, we have a persistent cultural and societal illusion that women are a weaker, inferior sex. Once again, our festival returns to continue eroding this illusion with an edition that resoundingly proves otherwise. Recent events provide a stark view of the power, fortitude, vigor, and determination that is woman, words of which we are being reminded. As women we are relearning, and beginning to understand that words like ‘power,’ ‘determination,’ ‘strength,’ and ‘grit’ are not only attributable to the male of the species. Every single film we screen is a testament to this fact.” –Melanie Wise, Artemis Women in Action Film Festival Founder.

The mission of feminine strength, both of character and physique, is championed by this groundbreaking film festival, which started in 2015. Since this inaugural event, founder Melanie Wise, a stuntwoman and actor, has convinced audiences that physically empowered women in film were not only positive, but popular. Now in its fourth year, Wise continues the tradition of showing a stronger image of women onscreen. The film festival is also pleased to announce sponsorships from LA Weekly and AGENDA magazine.

“From Grammy-nominated bassist to French chef, is there no end to Bunny Brunel’s skills? The American, French-born musician, bass designer and creator of the Bunny Brunel Electric Upright Bass (BBEUB) is also a published author of countless instructional books . . . oh wait, did we mention that he was also an instructor, too . . . well, he is also an incredible cook! He’s a gourmet chef, who attended l’Ecole Hôtelière de Nice, and learned everything there is to know about running a hotel, including preparing gourmet cuisine – everything from ratatouille to an apple tart. This video is the first of a series, where Bunny demonstrates his culinary prowess; and sets the tone for the first of many Feast & Fusion concerts, where he will cook in the kitchen and “cook” with his fusion band CAB on stage. On Saturday, October 14, 2017, 2-time Grammy-nominated bassist Bunny Brunel and his award-winning band CAB will be performing the first of many Feast & Fusion concerts, where Bunny Brunel will be presenting a gourmet entrée on the menu at the Back Bay Bistro (Newport Dunes Resort) in Newport Beach. The doors open at 6:00pm, followed by an exclusive V.I.P. cooking presentation by Bunny Brunel himself. This is followed by a special performance by CAB at 7:30pm.” Quoted from AGENDA Magazine (http://www.agendamag.com/chef-bunny-brunel-feast-fusion/)

For this special concert, Feast and Fusion, Bunny Brunel will prepare a signature dish—the “Bunny Brunel Gambas À L’Armoricaine Jumbo Shrimp Sautéed in a Tomato Cognac Sauce served over Ratatouille.” Foodies, chefs, and cooking hobbyists, as well as serious jazz lovers will come together for the first time at the Back Bay Bistro to enjoy this fine dining and fine music.
