Born in 1953, Dunn’s classical piano training and music theory knowledge formed the basis of his musical talent. Joining Earth, Wind & Fire in 1972, he played a pivotal role in shaping their renowned sound, blending genres like R&B, funk, soul, jazz, disco, and pop. Dunn’s keyboard skills and innovative use of synthesizers can be heard on hits like “Shining Star,” “September,” and “Boogie Wonderland.” He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of Earth, Wind & Fire in 2000. With his songwriting prowess, Dunn also gained induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
